In November of this year, my company will celebrate its 19th years in business. The company began approximately 2 months after the horrific events of 9/11. Friends and family deemed me slightly crazy for starting the company after the attacks. I focused my efforts on preparing for the new way of managing events.
Fast forward to March of 2020 when a virus strain brings the USA and the world to a standstill. Regardless of where it started, how it affects people and the ever-changing health guidelines – things will never be the same as before.
Event managers are called upon to reimagine their conferences, meetings and tradeshows. WebEx, Skype, Microsoft Teams, Zoom and countless others have met the challenge in providing new ways for people and companies to connect. The advent of digital conferences and/or meetings are here to stay.
Creativity and execution have never been more important. Shorter presentations, dynamic keynote speakers, attendee interaction via a chat box, virtual breakout rooms for discussions, digital coffee breaks and one on one meetings with sponsor representatives provide a new means of interacting.
Educating our clients and reaching their event goals is still our primary responsibility. As professional meeting managers, our expertise can help transition meetings, events and tradeshows to address the new challenges in exciting new platforms.
